Simple Butter Fried Cabbage

I'm always looking for a good, quick, healthful side dish to go along with whatever amazing piece of meat I'm really dreaming of eating. Cabbage may not be a traditional choice, but I love it because it's hearty and pretty good at sopping up some delicious juices. Especially when it comes to steak.

You don't need to do much to make it taste wonderful. Just add butter.

Butter Fried Cabbage (serves 2)

  • 1 small head of cabbage, finely sliced (or be like me and buy a bag of the pre-sliced stuff)
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 2 T butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

In a cast iron or non stick pan, melt the butter. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add the cabbage, salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is soft and slightly browned.

Divide between 2 plates and serve with your favorite main course.
